Contract Opening Letter to Roanoke Associates
Dear Kroger Mid-Atlantic Associate:
We are proud of your hard work, dedication, and commitment in providing an exceptional and uplifting shopping experience to our customers every day. Our customers tell us daily how grateful they are for all of you. We sincerely thank you for what you have done and continue to do to help Kroger Mid-Atlantic win!
You may be aware that we will soon begin negotiations on your contract with UFCW Local 400 for a new Roanoke contract, and we know how important this is to you. It’s also very important to us and to the entire Mid-Atlantic Division.
Our goal for this negotiation is to reach an agreement that is good for you, invests in higher wages, continues to provide low-cost, high-quality healthcare and a stable pension for your retirement.
As you know, a lot has changed since our last contract. The COVID-19 Pandemic presented challenges that continue to impact how our customers shop. And we’re seeing our competition become more and more competitive.
We must be flexible as we move forward with the negotiations process, so we are able to balance our desire to invest in associate wages and our responsibility to help keep groceries affordable for the communities we serve.
We will share open, transparent, and timely information and updates with you as negotiations progress. Here’s how you can find the information you need as soon as it’s available. To stay informed, you can:
