FAQs: Associate Rights to Choose to Work

Today, UFCW Local 400 announced it has received strike authorization from that bargaining unit members attending the vote.

We want to be sure you know what this means – strike authorization does not mean there will be a strike. It means that the union can call a strike for some or all West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky stores in the bargaining unit. But even then, whether you go on strike is up to you. Only you can decide what is right for you and your family.

We believe that the company has a duty to inform our associates of general rights under the law.

Below are Frequently Asked Questions about an associate’s right to choose to work, should the union call for a strike. Please note that answers to some questions are different based on if an associate works in a Right-to-Work state or a Non-Right-to-Work state.

The company is NOT recommending associates resign from the union or pursue any particular course of action in this matter.

The choice you make is our yours and yours alone.
